Nineteen year old child with a heart of brass. I like to start sing-a-longs to "Africa" and "Safety Dance" will always be my jam. I like you, let's be friends. |
Tweeting “I wish my parents would just get divorced” is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen. And before anyone goes off on a “you don’t know what it’s like, maybe it’s for the best” rant, this was my cousin. I know my family and yes, we are all screwed up and we all make mistakes, but ultimately her parents love her.
Just because her dad doesn’t give her everything she wants or doesn’t treat her the way her mom does (it’s the whole cliché “my mom is my best friend” situation), doesn’t give her the right to step all over him. He’s tough, sure, but he’s looking out for what’s best for her which is exactly what she needs because I can see her going down some bad paths without someone looking out for her.
As someone who has had not one, but two horrible father figures, it makes me sick when people take what they have for granted. I would have killed to have had a real father when I was her age.
It just all seems so selfish and entitled to me. Enjoy what you have, stop assuming you deserve more.
Sorry for the rant, but it just kills me when people can’t see what they have. I really hope someday she grows to appreciate the fact that a man who was incredibly young adopted her as his own and raised her, as his own, and maybe someday she’ll realize she treats him like shit sometimes.
